Script-Daemonizer ================= Turns your script into a UNIX daemon process (the easy way). DESCRIPTION =========== This module is born out of the need to easyly turn pre-existing scripts into daemons. It's inspired by the behaviour of well known daemons such as named or (x)inetd, and provides these capabilities: - daemonizing (go to background, detach from terminal, close open files, chdir to /, set umask to 0); - drop privileges; - write a pidfile and use it for locking (single-instance daemons); - redirect to syslog or log4perl all messages sent to STDOUT and STDERR; - restart the process on-demand. It's meant to be easy, but also customizable in its behaviour. INSTALLATION ============ To install this module, run the following commands: perl Makefile.PL make make test make install SUPPORT AND DOCUMENTATION ========================= After installing, you can find documentation for this module with the perldoc command. perldoc Script::Daemonizer You can also look for information at: RT, CPAN's request tracker (report bugs here) http://rt.cpan.org/NoAuth/Bugs.html?Dist=Script-Daemonizer AnnoCPAN, Annotated CPAN documentation http://annocpan.org/dist/Script-Daemonizer CPAN Ratings http://cpanratings.perl.org/d/Script-Daemonizer Search CPAN http://search.cpan.org/dist/Script-Daemonizer/ LICENSE AND COPYRIGHT ===================== Copyright (C) 2012 Giacomo Montagner This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of either: the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; or the Artistic License.
